Spring EcoCamp in Stanley Park, March 15-26, 2021
Spring EcoCamps are full! Summer EcoCamp registration opens up April 14, 2021.
Stanley Park Ecology Society offers Eco Camp for children ages 7 to 11. Embark on an exciting educational adventure among the giant trees, sandy beaches and hidden wetlands of Stanley Park. This spring, spot migrating waterfowl, search for signs of flying squirrels and beavers, explore the patterns of nature, and find buried treasure, all while spending valuable time outdoors.
Spring day camps are a week long. Camps are entirely outdoors this spring from 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
We meet at the SPES office (610 Pipeline Road) then campers accompany their camp leaders into new areas of the Park to explore the forests, Beaver Lake, Lost Lagoon, the Seawall and more! A detailed parent information package, along with camp policies and procedures, will be sent to you via email once you’ve secured a spot in camp and registered your child(ren).

Eco Camp Fees: Members $240, Non-members $280
Family memberships are $40 and available upon registration.

Week One – Art in the Park – (March 15 – 19)Do you have a child who enjoys finding patterns in nature, likes to “Van Gogh” on hikes in the forest, wonders how many crabs are under a large rock, admires the different colors on a single cedar tree, or just loves being outside? If so, bring your camper to the Art in the Park week! This week, our campers will look at nature through different mediums. We will explore the forests with our pencils, learn the function of feathers through watercolors, and find out how to leave no trace with fir cone ephemeral art. |

Week Two – Flying Wonders – (March 22 – 26)Have you ever wondered which birds migrate through Stanley Park, or how to identify songbirds based on their calls? Ever thought about the wonder of bat wing anatomy, questioned if Stanley Park is home to flying squirrels, or marveled at dragonfly larvae? If so, our Flying Wonders camp is for you! This week, our campers will learn about the amazing ducks, hawks, owls, and other flying creatures that call Stanley Park home, and will have a hoot doing it! |
Important COVID-19 related change in sign up procedures
We are currently planning on running our Spring Break EcoCamps. That being said, we are monitoring the BC Provincial Health Officer (PHO) guidelines in the Coastal Health region. The PHO guidelines that will be in place closer to the Eco Camp dates will inform our camp operations. As such, we are delaying offering pre-registered participants a spot in the camps, accepting any payment for programs, or releasing our updated COVID-19 Public Health guidelines for this program. Thank you for your patience as we assess the changing public health environment, and do our best to provide a safe, fun, experiential, and unique day camp experience for all!
Pre-registration is now full. As we did over the summer, we’ll be releasing the initial camp spots to those first on this list, as soon as we are sure we can run the camps. *Note: Over the summer, very few people who were not on our pre-registration list secured a spot. If you hope to attend, please add your child to this form!
We plan on updating you by Feb. 1, 2021. Please make sure to add school@stanleyparkecology.ca to your contacts so the e-mails do not go to your junk folder. You can email us to see where you are on the list and the likelihood of securing a spot.
Once you are granted a spot, you will have a certain amount of time to complete your registration and provide payment before we open up the spot for others on the pre-registration list.
